MHPA Webinar: The impact of engaging members through culturally tailored outreach

On Wednesday, October 5, 2023, MHPA hosted a webinar with SameSky Health Founder and CEO, Abner Mason. View the event summary or watch the full recording.

We are all unique and have different needs when it comes to our health, including how we engage with the healthcare system. Nine months after the first COVID-19 vaccine was approved, millions of Americans had not yet received one dose. Further research indicated that the most vulnerable, those in traditionally underserved communities, were lagging significantly further behind in getting vaccinated. There’s a better way to engage members in their healthcare.

This webinar focused on why culture and data matter in helping plans understand and personalize engagement with their members. We shared experiences about the impacts of taking a culturally and linguistically relevant approach as well as how to leverage data such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, social determinants, and other important factors to identify and help members overcome barriers to care.
